Electroaustic Art and Music from Chile
On Wednesday, October 6, undercover Fishbon Event Lab operatives were treated to an amazing interactive music and video experience from members of Chile's Cech (Chilean Electroacustic Community). They performed two acousmatic pieces, stereo and multichannel, audiovisual compositions and the work Mirror (espejo) for two laptops and live video. After the performance, the artists gave agents the opportunity to experiment with microphone and pre-programmed filters to create spectacular visual and audio effects.
UCSB Museum of Art Mythic Visions Opening
On Thursday, September 28, Fishbon brought Drums and Fire Machines for the opening of the Unversity of California, Santa Barbara Museum of Art show: Mythic Visions. A celebration of the mystical yarn paintings of Huichol indian shaman Jose Benitez Sanchez and Divine Comedy illustrations of Surrealist Salvador Dali, the fire apparatus provided a compelling entrance image. The Ring of Fire is an experiential piece that uses an accelerometer to give the dancer control of the height of the flames around its perimeter.
History of Modern Iraq
On Wednesday, September 27, Fishbon Event Lab agents assembled for a briefing by NASA scientist and historian Steve Corbett about the history of the area now known as Iraq from the beginning of the 2oth Century to the present. Supported by video an still footage, Steve told the fascinating story of how the US and Britain ended up in the conflict, and the inevitable consequences. Later in the evening, operatives were given a progress report on the Fishbon Apocalypse.
